I still use older scopes just for the reason the OP stated well that and the fact that I'm frugal ( some say cheap) but I definitely feel if it works don't mess with it. I still use a couple of vari xii scopes as well as a older Burris 4x and a scope chief 4x. Deer really can't seem to tell the difference that I have noticed and the scopes just keep on ticking. I do have a weaver K2.5 but my buddy is using it on of of his rifles.
