Hey crew! I'm not suggesting anyone give up their secret pheasant grounds here, but the pheasant hunting in my end of the San Joaquin Valley is dead, and I would love to take my dad out for a good pheasant hunt. Any suggestions in the central or northern Valley that someone could make? I don't get up towards Stockton much, but for a pheasant hunt with Dad, I could be persuaded. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
Many Thanks!

Wayne

The tough part is getting permission to hunt on the property. There is basically no such thing as public hunting land up this way. The local sportsmen's club has a hunt they run, but that will cost ya about $25 a day. There are plenty of birds out in the islands this way, it's just a matter of finding them and getting permission to hunt the land. I got something brewing, I just hope it doesn't fall through. You might want to give Camanche Hills a call. I don't know if you need to be a member though.

Thanks berto. $25 a day sounds good, if there's pheasants to be had. I'll take a look at the web site you gave me. Any info helps.

What about the Sac and Delevan Wildlife refuges - maybe even San Luis Refuge? San Luis is much closer to Bakersfield than the others. I've kicked a few birds out at San Luis while duck hunting, but I'd be willing to bet you'd have better luck at Sac and Delevan because of all the rice production in that area. You'd have to check the regs to make sure it's allowed.
