For hunting whitetail from 10-600 yards, what would bullet would you pick in a 260 Remington?

I cannot complain about how well the 120 gr Ballistic Tip has treated me. If any negative, it expands pretty quick but at .260 velocities, you have no worries.

I was a 120 TTSX guy until a bunch of tips popped on me this past year.

Bet that makes for a deadly bullet. For state land culling here in PA I take the 7MM 120 Ballistic tip and remove the tips. You can hear the bullets slap the deer

I've had extremely good results from Berger 130gr Hunting VLDs out of my .260. It's still my #1 choice.

Why remove the tips?

I'd go with the Nosler 125 gr Partition and call it good!

+1. I also really like the 129gr Hornady Spire Points.

Try it, every deer goes down for the count, with the tips on I have some run on me. I need to put them down with no run away. Hitting the with a flying ashtray does the trick

So many great bullets available so it is hard for me to pick just one. If forced to pick I would choose the 130 gr Accubond, it will work near or far, tough enough up close and sleek enough to work at long range. That said I really like the 120 and 140 gr Ballistic Tips, 140 gr Accubond and 125 and 140 gr Partitions as well. The 129 hr Hornady is another excellent bullet.

Like Hondo, the 130 Hunting VLD has worked well for me.

Have some skinners to try now too...

I have been loading 125 NPT's in the kids 260 but he has had great luck w/140 Speer's also in the past. I have numerous other hunting bullets including old Rem HP's, 129 Horn SP's, 140/160 Horn RN, Sierra 160 RN/Sptz., ect. None of the WT's he has shot through the grapefruit never went over 25'. This year I might load the 129's for him (most hunting loads use I-4350)-Muddy

I shoot 120 Ballistic Tips and the 129 Hornady PSP

The 129 Hdys have a cannula, but don't let that detour you.
Three great powders for 260..H4350, RL15, Superformance

The superformance powder takes a little more work, but once you find a load it's as good as many powders on the market.

I am gonna try the superformance powder and see how she does. Thanks for all the input. Looks like 120 ballistic tips, 125 partitions and 130 Berger hunting vld's keep coming up. I have all but the vld's, so now I know what to order.

I've got Pressure Trace data from a Creedmoor, the burn curve is MUCH more progressive than "regular" powders. Meaning a much flatter peak to the burn curve. What we found was that you generally get higher velocities(at the same pressures). But when you start to push the upper end of SAAMI pressures the curve begins to move to a more standard curve.

So don't expect a linear velocity for pressure increase. If I remember when I get home tonight, I'll up-load some photos for you.

So here are some examples of burn curve differences. Ignore the odd trace in the Superformance, this was an early phase of loading for pressures not consistency.

Looks like I could load the 140s safely to 2675-2700 with the superformance...??? Thanks. I wish I could get one of those programs for my 264 win mag and RL 33.

All I have ever shot anything with using my 260 is the Speer 120 HC.

I have used the 120 BT in a 6.5 Swede.

No complaints with either.
