It sure is. A very well made gun, much more so than the later Winchesters...

I almost had one a few years ago, at a gun show, a dealer had one for 900 i went to hit the atm, as I was 300 short by the time I got back it was gone!

$900.00 for the Forest Service carbine? This was $1900.00...

That's a pretty slick looking rig FG... Nash and I killed 3 rabbits from under our neighbor's hunting cabin today, one was at 2 steps with a full choke 12 gauge..... Tweren't pretty.....

The spring Rock Chuck gala is supposed to be on again this year. I was planning to send you a heads up but I din't want to say anything until I was sure my young protege (slacker) down in Nevadaland wasn't going to back out again.

It really wasn't that much trouble or expense but I'm fortunate enough to have a smith that knows his trade and doesn't bend you over for a simple task.
Cost me $379 for the rifle,, + $175 to set it back, rechamber and clean up the action,, + another $135 for the stock with checkering. I had a good Walker trigger on hand so I sold the trigger, stock, and BDL bottom metal (I prefer blind magazine) for about $185 IIRC.
My smith even threw in a new crown. Said it was SOP.

Definitely worth the effort.

Maybe you can shoot a Chuck with my little home brewed deuce.
It ain't a Cooper/Sako but it's a pretty sweet little rifle for only having a titch over $500 in it.

I'll take my snob hat off and give it a try.
