The heat has turned on in SE Oregon. With a shortage of trees in the surrounding sagebrush environment, the deer have taken to using our irrigated lawn, constantly filled water tub, and the shade supplied by our fruit trees and 2-story home. At any given moment there are usually about 3 fawns, 5 or 6 cottontails, and a couple of California quail families exploiting some shady spot. As Cookie backed out of our garage yesterday morning, this little guy was staring her in the face. No sign of the heat turning off, so they'll probably stick around for a good while.
