Started to mess around with loading for a 6.5x284 about 10 days ago, using Imr 4350 and 142 gr Nosler spitzer, I am now at 45 grns. of 4350, and shooting 5 shot groups at just under .5" at 200 yrds, I tried 45.5 and groups opened up to just over an inch, Question?? will this load take me out to at least 500 yrds? don't have a crno, but am guessing I am going some where around 2700 fps.

Love the rifle shoots great, should I stop here ? or keep going? I have fired 69 rnds so far starting with a new barrel. Rio7

Excellent shooting! Most of all you knew where it hit!

I just got back from the range and that's where I record all of my shots from the hunting rifles.

After checking a rifle's zero or firing more shots I write down where they hit and what the load was along with if it was from a cold barrel or a hot one!

Savage 99, I log all my shots and almost always shoot 5 shot groups, so far I have only shot this rifle to 200 yrds here at my house, but I have a 1000 yrd range on the north ranch 7 miles from the house, but it's been raining, so I will wait and go in the morning before the wind picks up. I hope this load has enough poop to reach a ways. Rio7

without running figures, but knowing the 6.5x284, that load should be supersonic to 1000 I'd bet easily.

We can keep Larry Root and all his idiotic blabber and user names on here, but we can't get Ralph back..... Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over....
