A buddy sent this to me. I don't know if it's accurate but it very well may be. eek

GRENADE TRAINING 101

A hand grenade can go off in 4-5 seconds.

Ever hear the saying "throws like a girl"?

In the (new) Marine Corps (with women in combat),
This is what it looks like...filmed on location at Camp Pendelton, CA.

CLIK THE LINK....

Kudos to the trainer for hauling her over the wall. No indecision there.

Had that happen at Ft.Bragg, back in 1959, only it was a guy, I put the grenade, in his hand and told him with a twisting turning motion pull the pin extend your left arm rock back and throw, He laid it on top of the bunker and ran,I jumped in the bunker on the left just like the guy and girl in this vid. scared the hell out of me. don't mind telling you I chewed the guy's ass like bubble gum every chance I got for the next 6 weeks.

At least it will weed out the pansy ass people the Military excepts today.

Hell....I've seen boys 8-10 years old throwing like that; right foot forward and throwing with right hand! Real easy to tell kids that grew up on a gravel road!!

We had a guy hit the wall like that with one at Ft Leonard Wood in '70 when I was in basic. Same thing - the man in charge grabbed him and stuffed them into a concrete bunker 3 steps away. They don't put indecisive, slow moving men on the grenade ranges.

One of the things I missed.. no live grenades at Leonard Wood in the mid-80's when I went through. Never have thrown a live one.

Must be one of those vagaries of the military. Same place, about the same time, and we DID throw a couple............

Got my grenade in 1962, Ft Leonard Wood. I threw it so hard I damn near got an air burst! Or so it was claimed.

We only ever got to throw one each in basic, and never saw any more until my NCO's Cadre.. There grenades were "posted" which was interesting....

Grenades are weird. They are more dangerous yet much less lethal than folks know. I used many.many frags and actually their least addressed danger is the dangerous fumes that they create. DO NOT try to go into a cave after a frag goes off. BAD ju-ju. Trainees are scared schidtless of them and that by itself causes the training accidents.

Cool! I don't think I could move that fast with a full load of poop in my pants! I imagine those guys assume that will happen every time. Good response!
