Did the second round of drop confirmations out to 1350 yards today with the rear-grip 7mm Long Range Magnum (LRM)/180 grain Hybrids, 8T Brux barrel, Holland Radial Baffle brake and the Kahles 624i with their new KMOA reticle in FFP. Shooting from the seated position at a bench with a Harris BR bi-pod and small field bag under the pistol grip. Shot at 500 yards, 750 yards, 1000 yards, and 1350 yards.

Wind was not much most of the time which allowed for tight groups.

1000 yards. Four shots at lower left was what Exbal said. Made correction and then the last two shots...Over compensated for wind on the second shot.

Watch the video!

1350 yards was really cool as I shot two times and hit two times really close.

1440 yard target is to the right of the target at 3:00.

That's extraordinary shooting. What is that cartridge?, snipers could use that short package.

Some mighty big ant hills in the one pic laugh

You just thought it was too easy with a rifle and had to switch to a hand cannon?

Mighty fine shooting!

About 50-100 fps slower than a 7mm Dakota. Uses a standard magnum boltface (Like a 7mm Rem Mag), no belt.

You're confirming drop relative to what, the predictions of Exbal, or the accuracy of your scope turrets or reticle?

Regardless, that's some great shooting.

Actually, I have never chronoed the load itself. just keep adjusting my MV to make Exbal match my actual drops

I'm always interested in how ballistics software matches up with real-world observations. Could you post the particulars you are entering into Exbal? The MV, BC, air temperature, barometric pressure, altitude, wind speed and direction, and your gun's sight height. At the distances you're shooting the Coriolis effect may come into play, so what direction are you shooting (compass direction to the target)? What distance are you zeroed at?

BTW it looks like Exbal's author, Gerald Perry, passed away in 2012 and the last update of the program was in 2010.

Yes, Gerald is dead. I really liked him. Super nice guy.
I plugged in the elevation, temp, humidity and the sight height. Using G1 BC.
Shooting about due north.
100 yard Zero.

I would inquire about your scope - I'm saving up for a dedicated LR scope and have pretty much settled on the Kahles. I'm hearing rumors that this fall they'll be adding an option for a left side windage knob to the K624i (already available on the K312i). So, I'm in a holding pattern right now.

Care to share some perceptions?

Just got through using this scope for a 3-day match that is physically taxing on the shooters and the gear.
The 624i did great.
I am even more impressed now with it than I was a week ago.
This is an easy scope to use-so fast!
The shooters had a lot of good gear and without reservation I highly recommended the 624i
Kahles was even at the match and supported.
Nick was very busy the four days he was there.
It is not a rumor...The 624i will be made that has a left windage knob.
Time frame?
Later on this year, with no specific time frame just yet.

I really like where the parallax adjustment is placed. I thought after having to reach left for all of these years I would keep doing that, but I didn't.
