Daughter is trying to get drawn for a Tulie Elk hunt. She has 7 mag but loves her Tikka compact 7mm-08. Just wondering if anybody has used this load and what were the results? If she gets drawn I still want her to use the mag but she won't let go of the 7-08.

I believe Barsness has said that John Haviland and sons have taken 30+ elk with their 7mm-08's using a variety of 140 grain premium bullets. That's why my elk rifle is a 7mm-08 loaded with 140gr Barnes TTSX.

coyote268,
I haven't used the 7mm-08 load on elk, but have used that bullet in both 7x57 factory and handloads on numerous plains game animals up to elk-sized in Africa, and it works very well, with excellent penetration and expansion.

I killed a 4x4 bull in Oregon in 2013 with a T3 in 7mm-08 using 140 grain Partitions.
One shot, two steps forward, two steps backward, fell over dead. Recovered bullet weighed 91 grains IIRC.
