I saw a story this morning on fox internet news about 2 persons dying from a Varigated squirrel virus. Apparently the virus passed from squirrel to people in this case. the two men were breeding squirrels for the pet market and got infected. Hopefully the virus doesn't get into the US squirrel population. One of these days I hope to taste what a squirrel is like. No squirrels in Hawaii except in the Honolulu zoo, I think. Mel

Mel- Accordig to a friend that has eaten both rat and fox squirrel, they taste much the same. I have eaten squirrel and prefer rabbit. Both are great fun to hunt.-Mike

we have lots of rats here - both Norway and brown rats. they are fun to shoot too - you blast the nest in the Kiawe (related to mesquite) tree with a shotgun and then use a .22 to pick off the "runners" - being careful of houses and property in the line of fire. I'm not about to eat them, however. Mel
