Hello every on,

Really no relevance to a "gun dog" as my pooch is nothing more than an overly energetic Australian Shepard.

We moved into a new development recently and I'm looking for a training collar or wireless fence.

I'm hoping however, one of you can suggest a system that is remote based....maybe there isn't such a thing, but what I have in mind is, if the dog moves say, 200'(or whatever) from the controller/remote it'll alert her with a shock(or I can manually)...

Is this an actual thing??

Thanks,

MK

Get a invisible fence wire the whole yard. Just put the wire like 15-20 ft from the road or sidewalks. Ive seen to many close calls with people putting the wire to close to sidewalk or street. Cars and people will have more time to react.

They do make wireless fences, when they first came out the range wasnt the greatest. Dont know if the range is better now. Would have to look into that.

So when the dog gets like 3ft away from the wire it beeps,if the dog keeps going they get shocked. I have had very good luck with mine. Dont even need the color on the dog anymore.

When my buddy was working for the pound he used to pick up lots of dogs with "invisible fence" collars on. There was a study done and a lot of dogs will figure out that if they hit the line full out it only hurts for a second, so they just bust the fence. I sure would not trust the life of one of my dogs to one.
