I love kayak fishing. I just love sneaking into places the jon boats can't go and having the water open up to rarely fished places. Sometimes, in the strip mines, you can drag the yak up and over a piece of land 6 feet wide and get into another spot where the fish look at you instead of swimming away. You can cruise up on deer and otter and raccoon and 9 times out of 10 they don't scare until you get so close you can see the whiskers on their noses. Took my new fly rod to a crystal clear lake last weekend and fished out of my Field and Stream Eagle Talon. Must have had a thousand missed strikes by little blue gill on top-water poppers, and about 20 larger gills that I boated. I love my Talon. It's a good boat. Had it now for 5 years and will continue to use it in those rough places where I know I'm going to encounter lots of weeds and rocks. But this one will get me places on big water a lot more quickly...and get me home when I hear thunder in the distance. https://www.austinkayak.com/products/13591/Native-Watercraft-Slayer-13-Propel-Kayak.html

Great tools, but I'd go with a paddle to work the really skinny water.

Raise the prop and pull out the paddle, takes about 15 seconds. Now I have to figure out how to haul it in my short bed pickup.

I have seen canoe/kayak extension arms that you can build/buy that hook into your receiver hitch. I've included a video that shows it. Look at the 0:52 mark of Episode #5. http://www.redington.com/find-your-water/

Saw'em and thanks for the suggestion. Problem is, my pickup hitch is on the bumper. Not heavy duty, but works for my canoe trailer. I have a couple of ideas wandering through my head.
