For year's I've used a North Face Cat's Meow with a cheap $65 REI bivy sack over the top. Light, warm and bug proof (the bivy had mesh over the hood, so skeeters couldn't get in.) Somehow my Cat's Meow is missing and hunting season is approaching and I need a bag. Looking for a sleeping bag comparable to what I had-a good, light weight, 20 degree and <$200 bag.
I see REI has the Cat's Meow, but I don't think its the same material/filling as my good 'ole bag. What are some other comparable bags that you guys would recommend or are using?

Mountain Hardware Extra Lamina is superb and can be found as low as $165 online.
The 'Extra' part is that it's cut a little wider for sleeping comfort.

hard to beat the old Cat Meows, we have 2 of em, 1 for mom and the longer version for me.
think the Snowshoe waterrat references is a 0* bag, pard has one.
I'm a big fan of the Montbell burrow bags with the stretch panels, very comfortable, but it's not as light as the Meows we have. though it is rated to lower temp either 5* or 0* can't recall which
another decent bag I've used is a Kelty ?? don't recall the name, it's a 5* bag as well and thus heavier than the Meow
haven't bought a bag in a few years now, Montbell was last one.
let us know what you get and how it compares to the TNF CM please.
technology continues to change the game

I'm pretty certain when we sing our anthem and mention the land of the free, the original intent didn't mean cell phones, food stamps and birth control.

Swing by Wiggys Alaska and talk to Marc, he knows his stuff when it comes to sleeping bags. I've been using an Ultr-Lite for about 8 years now and it's been a fantastic bag for all my fall hunts.
That's ok, I'll ass shoot a dink.

The Meow is an updated version. I believe it is a newer version of insulation vs. the older one. Doubt you would be disappointed. Likewise, TNF's Snowshoe has been replaced by the Snow Leopard I had snowshoes for quite a few years and they seemed to be losing loft. Replaced it with the Leopard and plenty happy with it. It's got a different shell and an improved insulation. Lots of good bags available.
