I decided i needed a 308 AR, so i bolted one together today.

Nothing special, just a 18" bull barrel for play and maybe a truck gun for deer.

Hope is one optic to play out to 1000yds but most shots 200-600 so im guessing i want either turrets or ballistic reticle. It wont be shot a ton so i dont want to spend $1000 or more.

I got a NF 3-10 SHV model recently & so far it's good.....under a grand but it's not illuminated.

Or of one of the SWFA Super Sniper (SS) models........they are heavier even than the NF's but seem to work pretty well as to maintaining zero & tracking well.

I should tell you that I have the MOAR reticle in the SHV & it's very good in daylight, but hard to see as it gets darker & you'll do well to have a target with a lighter colored center rather than black as you'll lose center.

I vote for a SHV or a used 2.5-10x32. Both should be within your budget and both awesome scopes. The illumination does help in low light though.

The 3-10x42 SHV does not have illumination available, only the 2 56mm obj. ones do.

I have an aimpoint PRO on its twin 308 "battle rifle".

This one if you have the funds. I have a 2.5-10 x 44 which is a great scope as well for the money.

I can't complain about my 1-6x Loopey Mark 6; at 1x it would work at close range, and at 6x it still works pretty well at distance. Of course, they cost as much as a NF so they should be good smile Mine was bought used, in a package deal with a LaRue mount, and I'm pleased with it. A few cosmetic issues, so it was much less than new price.

Currently in my home there is more then 1 5.56 AR with a red dot, and more then 1 5.56 with a 1-4, and a 300BO with a 1-4.

This one will definitely get more x's as its slated just for deer out of the truck and LR play

You will not reach 1000 yards accurately or anywhere near MOA with an 18" bbl 308 due to the loss of MV.

As to the scope for 0-600 yards, which is more practically the range you'll get MOA, I'd go with the first recommendations above as the others are above your price point.

I use a Leupold Mark IV on my LesBaer
