I'm setting up a truck gun with a scout scope. Ive never personally had a setup like this and don't know really what exactly I need to buy. Would a pistol scope work or dose it use a special scout scope? Any ideas on a reasonable scope to buy? My mount came with a cheap AIM brand 2-7 but do wanna upgrade from that yet don't wanna put a $300 scope on a $150 gun
Rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

I'm assuming it's a military bolt action. If so, a pistol scope should be fine. Have you tried the 2-7 yet?

If you are looking for cheap, good luck. I had a Burris 2.7X scout scope back in the 90's that was pretty disappointing. On the other hand, the 1.5-4X Leupold VX2 I have now is alot better than I woulod have thought. I can, for instance, pick up .30 caliber bullet holes in the white alot more readily with it than I can with my 1.25-4X Leupold VX-R Patrol. The nice thing about having good quality scopes is that they don't have to go with the gun if yoy seel it, and they can used on several rifles, not just the one you originally bought it for. E

I run a 1.5x4 Burris pistol scope on my BLR scout. Works just fine.

You really need to spend some time and figure out how much eye relief you need for your specific gun, a normal rifle scope has an eye relief of about 3"-6" most handgun scopes are about 15"-18" and scout scopes range from about 9.5"-13".
What kind of gun are we talking about ?????????

boat: How did you get the range of eye relief figures? I checked the manufacturer's specs and I only see one number not a range. Thanks. Burris scout 7.3 Leupold scout 9.3 fixed 4X 4.0 handgun 2X 18.0 Leatherwood scout "up to 13"

Most scout and handgun scopes have very large eye boxes, lots of fore and aft leeway. The draw back seems to be that the scope's image isn't as bright and they tend not to show as much detail as one gets in the similarly priced standard sytle rifle scopes. E
