Found a lb in my local shop and am thinking it may work well for the 264 Mag. Have both 140 VLD's and 129 LRAB's. Any thoughts on this powder and where to start? Can't find anything on it.
My rifle is a 700 with a 24" Rock throated for the 140 VLD's.
Have Rl-33 as back up but would like to see what the 26 will do.

Am waiting for the pound I bought a couple months ago to show up. Should be this week.
But am not thrilled so far with the lack of 23 or 26. Why introduce a new powder and then not have it available?

Both 23 and 26 have been on local shelves here for a month. A bunch of the standard Alliant had shown up at the same time, 15, 17, 19 22, and 25. All are gone now except the newbies and some 25.
Curious to hear reports on the new stuff

Don't put much stock in my comment but I thought I read somewhere that it is basically just RL 25 that is more temperature stable.

So far I've tested RL26 in the 270 Win and 6.5x55. I've burned through 2 lbs in both cartridges. In the 270 Win it puts it into 7 RM territory. 150's at over 3k. I would look at 7mm Rem Mag Alliant data and load down 3 to 4 grains to start for the 264 win mag. I have a new 7mm rem mag. I'll be testing in shortly. Reloder 26 falls between RL-25 and RL-33.
Reloder 23 falls between RL-22 and RL-25.
Keep in mind that burn rates are only relative. Even though you may have two powders that follow one another, they may have completely different burn rates and/or characteristics.

Then I asked this......"In your load guide for the 7mm Wby and 175 grain bullet. Why are you loading RL 26 at 70,5 grains and RL 25 at 74.0 Grains? Seems you could load more grains of RL26 being it is a slower powder."
Alliant's reply......."Bob,
I was recently informed that the burn rate of 26 actually falls out between Reloder22 and Reloder 33, not Reloder 25 and Reloder 33.
This would mean that 26 is faster than 25 thus the difference in load data.
Also, burn rates are not the whole equation when it comes to load data.
The load data that is on our website is tested load data and meets all the industry standards.

Thanks for the replies fellas. What r ur thoughts on it and the 264 mag.would u expect good velocities with it or jump straight to the RL-33? The shop where I got it has 4 more lbs left. Wandering if I should just snag it up. Also should I run the cci 250's or the 215M primers, Any preference?

Also should I run the cci 250's or the 215M primers, Any preference? I will address only the quoted question. I have discovered changing primers can literally cut groups in half ! So start with one and work up your load. Then change only the primer to see if it helps or hurts the group.

I have some 150gr TTSX for my Tikka T3 7RM, and have been looking at RL26. Impressive velocity in Alliant's data for the 162gr A-Max. Haven't picked a powder to start with, but would be interested to see what you come up with if you are planning to do anything with that boollit, or 168gr AB-LR.

Today I broke in a new T3 SL in 7 RM.
After sighting in and going the Ultra Bore Coat route....
I burned 67.0 g of RL26 for 3,060, shooting a Nosler 160 grain Accubond for just a hair over a 1 inch 3 shot group.
I have some 150 LRAB. I'll look for some 168's to try.

I went to the big city yesterday. No RE 26 or 23. Bought some new IMR powders all I could find paid too much for the three pounds I got, almost $30/lb
