Moved from main fire.
That's right, This guy! Woo Hoo. after 8 years of apps to Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire, I drew a Vermont regular season tag! I am planning on hiring a guide since I will be in Wyoming the week prior and can't scout for myself. Any recommendations? I have it narrowed down to a couple guys, but it seems hard to come by up that way. I drew a B&C either sex tag.

I would stay away from the greater West Yellowstone, Montana area, the wolves have devoured them...

Yeah Shrapnel, I drew in the east. I have a buddy with a cabin near Yellowstone, its disheartening to hear the stories.

Vermont moose has been down from what I have understood. Deer hunting is very difficult. I hunted the last three years near starksboro, VT. Hope you have better luck. Think if you go further north you may do better on moose? Good luck.

Esox, My unit is on the Canadian border. Yes, from everyone I have talked to, the numbers are getting hit hard , in particular from a tick. But in the same breath, they all say there are moose to hunt. I believe I hired the right guy for me, and his is already scouting and hanging cameras for me.

More moose than deer I would venture to say there so that is a plus? Yes the farther North in my opinion is better so you are in the right area!
Watch your speed the police/state patrol don't play even for a few mph over the speed limit, pretty strict enforcement.
Get some maple syrup while your there and get your moose!

Thanks for the speeding heads up. I am a lead foot and Michigan cops are fairly lenient as far as cops across the nation go. This last weekend I was coming home from a camping tip pulling my travel trailer doing 15 over with a cop behind me and he passed me and didn't even look. I think I got pretty lucky on that one.
