I just purchased a Frankford Arsenal tumbler with SS media, my question concerns the use of LemiShine and Dawn dish detergent with this system. How much LemiShine and how much Dawn? Please describe the process you use. Thanks.

You can extrapolate to the capacity of the FA, but in my Thumler's Model B, I use 1 gallon water, two tablespoons of Dawn, and one-half teaspoon lemi-shine.

I don't think it is an exact science, so somewhere close will be OK, but I have heard that if you go heavy on the lemi-shine, results will be a darker brass.

You nailed it as for as my concern, I knew that with Lemi-Shine more is not better. I didn't think it was rocket science just asking what proved to work in others experience. Thanks for the info. Just got my brass out of the tumbler, I used one gallon of water and one teaspoon of Lemi-Shine. Didn't want to add the Dawn as I was concerned about using too much and getting volumes of suds. Many years ago I was out of dish washer detergent, no problem I thought just use dish soap. The dishwasher looked like one of the firefighting foam machines they use at the airport. Soapsuds were ankle deep all over the kitchen floor, fortunately I was single no wife to tell me what a dumbazz I was.

FA does provide instructions, they use their own cleaning solution which is not included in the kit. I was asking about using Dawn and Lemi-Shine because I had seen several posters mention using this. Also I had both of these on hand.

The suds formed from the Dawn can't go anywhere so don't worry about it. You don't get an overflow of foam when you open it. You want enough detergent to help break down the crud. I usually put in Dawn, run for half an hour or so and dump the dirty water and start over, adding a little Lemon shine too. The crap that comes out is pretty impressive and I think I get a 1% better result by doing so. Really don't need the intermediate dump, but it makes me feel better.

put a bit of creme of tartar in the mix and it'll make the brass pretty slick.

Here is the recipe I use.

* 4 good squirts of Lemi shine
* 4 good squirts of Sun OXYgen
* 1 tablespoon of creme of tartar
* 1-2 lbs of brass pins
* Fill the tumbler with water.
