I was in the new Cabela's store in our area yesterday and could not find any .257 Roberts or .35 Whelen ammo. Are those calibers hard to find in your area?

Harder to find than 22LR.
Had a mom & pop store where you could find such goodies, but they closed up about 6 years ago.

LGS usually has a few boxes of both, actually a couple different manufactures and loads but usually way overpriced. That is why I don't shop there. They have tons of inventory, 2000+ guns in stock, new and used but very unwilling to deal. I reload both of those calibers so really never found shortage of availability an issue.Coogs.

Not really. I have probably 3-4 places I can get most days including Gander Mt and Cabela's.
Camp is where you make it.

I was wondering if 45-75 was hard to find anyplace else like it is here? I'm having a hard time of it. Seems like just yesterday all the Walmarts had it. Now you can't even find it at Scheel's. Dang!

Get into reloading. Buy a 35 Whelen die. Make your own from 30-06 brass. I make mine. Gander Mountain locally had 30-06 Remington Core-lok ammo for about $20 and the same 35 Whelen for $40. Makes sense to make your own. Tweek the loads for accuracy and power.

About as hard to find as .22 lr but I've always seen them as handloader's cartridges anyway and I've got plenty of components for my family Bobs.
If I didn't handload I'd do a 243 Win, 270 Win, 308 Win, or 30-06. Actually if it were REALLY me there'd be no "or" there; 30-06 covers everything the Bob & Whelen do.
Thank God it isn't me; the thought is painful.

I do handload for both and form .35 Whelen from .30-06. I was just looking for premium type factory ammo with bullets I don't have in my inventory.

My wife's 'fun at the range' is done in less than 5 minutes (when she's shot her 9 257 reloads). None around here, nor any Bee nor Hornet, but there are are a few boxes of 225 Winchester ammo and a few bags of 275 Rigby brass.

Dang! actually i believe i need some of that for a remington rolling block if i ever get around to making it usable. I did find a place online where i can get the brass and projectiles.

Mainly because i don't have one. like a remington pump in that caliber. i do have other .358's that i can download to whelen, but i like the idea of using 30.06brass instead of the insanely expensive 350remington mag brass.

Remington 760 pumps in .35 Whelen are neat rifles. It shouldn't be too hard to find an "experienced" .30-06, send it to JES and you'll have your whelen is pretty short order. I have a pre'64 M/70 that I had Randall Redman rebore/rechamber to .35 Whelen more than 20 years ago, it is one of my favorite hunting rifles.

I was at Spostman's Warehouse day before yesterday and they had a big supply of Remington .35 Whelen. Didn't see any .257 Bob but to be honest I wasn't looking for it. I do have enough Whelen and Bob brass to last me for a little while. Paul B.

I'd imagine 35 whelen would be much easier to find up here than 257 Roberts, but I also rolled my own with the Whelen and have never (not yet ;0 ) owned a Roberts.

I really haven't looked, but the last time I saw something I did want (30 Savage) it was WAY too high at Gander. I do have the dies and all for everyting I shoot, though. Funny, but the local walmart keeps a steady supply of .50 BMG, I was afraid to ask the price. But I couldn't find any 180 gr. .308.
