Local Wally Mart -Harborcreek, Pa, had CCI .22lrHP, .22Mag, Winchester .22lr (T-22?), CCI .17. Thought I stepped into a time warp. The CCI .22lr Target work REAL well in my Mossberg 340BA. The high speed HP not so much. 1/2" 50yd, VS. 1.25" 50 yd (all with a peep sight) Could only afford a box of the CCI HP. Good for squirrel to about 35yds. Old eyes...

I'm glad you made it there before the hoarders got there this time, I hope others did too.

I have seen so much 22 LR lately I don't even buy it anymore. Tonight at Sportsman's Warehouse there was a pallet with hundreds of 500 round boxes and nobody was picking them up. I guess we are lucky in Colorado.

Up our way (central Ontario) there seems to be a lot f 22LR. There's even a fair amount of 17 HMR. Not so with 22 Magnum. The shelves are bare. I managed to find a couple of boxes at Cabelas, but nothing at my usual haunts.

Hugh - you folks must live in Wally Worlds USA sweet spot... I have not seen any .22LR or .22Mag at any of my three local WalMart stores for a very long time. Recently saw 5 cartons of A17 .17HMR but that's it. Getting the feeling SoFlo is a wasteland for .22 rimfires. Homesteader

The only ammo I buy at Walmart is .45ACP Federal ball with Aluminum case and Perfecta ball with brass case. I don't recall ever seeing any .22 rimfire there.

Went into a local Ace Hardware last week looking for some 22 shotshells. They had CCI 22LR and 22 Mag versions. Bought one of each. They also had a bunch of Win 22 Mag 40 HP's and some CCI version. All I have left in a 22 Mag is a Single Six, well stocked so left it for the next guy.

well stocked so left it for the next guy. Thanks for doing that and I am doing it myself. Not sure if my passing up rimfire will eventually drop the hoarding & gouging, but I tried. Especially when its getting to 10 cents a round at Gouger Mountain.
Other than that, How was the show Mrs. Lincoln?

Lots of 17 on the shelves of our local Sportmans Warehouse. They also have been recent smatterings of .22 LR CCI Mini-Mags, Remington Thunderbolts and Federal Automatch. I have not seen rimfire at Walmart for a long time, though.
After the last few years of buying and shooting every kind ammo I could find, I learned that only the.22 LR Mini-Mags (HP and RN) function properly across all my platforms with consistent accuracy. That is pretty much all I am buying right now except for a few specialty rounds for particular guns. In the last month I have been able to pick up about 1500 Mini Mags locally and online, and even passed on the opportunity to get 500 of the round nose flavor just yesterday.

Today at Sportsmans they had Federal 550 round bulk pack for $28, a couple of Federal American Eagle bricks, a couple of boxes of Winchester .22 WMR 45 grain Dynapoints, a few boxes of .22 WRF, a decent supply of some kind of .22 shorts, and a bunch of 17. Didn't buy anything.

It is hard to believe, but went to Walmart in Colonial Height Va and they had bunch of CCI boxes of 50s for $3.67 per box if I recall correctly. Just bought some .45ACP, but I finally seen some .22 at Walmart.

Cheyenne - " Lots of 17 on the shelves of our local Sportmans Warehouse". As mentioned in my earlier post those 5 cartons of A17 .17HMR are still on the shelf at my closest WallyWorld. Maybe the $47plus price for 200 rounds per carton are keeping people away. Funny thing..."17 hummers" available in so,so quantity while plain vanilla .22LR are still in the VOID! Go figure. Have yet to walk into a Walmart and find .22s of any sort. I usually ask, or at least look, and all I've gotten is sad smiles from the clerks.
On the other hand, I've done very well online. Just picked up a brick of MiniMags for $7.99 per hundred plus shipping. 10.6 cents per round delivered, no gas used or windshield time. I'll take that deal.
What fresh Hell is this?

It's obvious that 22LR has rebounded. I wonder sometimes if we are too greedy for our own good? I would say that most of these shortages were generated by our own avarice.
For the first time ever, I saw Aquila Super Extra ammunition and a couple other Aquila types on the shelf up here. Haven't seen Aquila in years.
Dynapoints make my Model 60 happy. The squirrels, less so.

It's always hard to say who "us" is. Before this shortage a couple years ago I had bought a 1/2 case of Winchester subsonic (X22LRSUBA) which my primary hunting rifles liked we'll enough . I'm down to the last brick. I've bought the occasional box of 50 (<10) over the last couple years to see what the various rifles like. (My name is Allen and I have a rimfire problem - 'everyone' Hi Allen). I've found the Norma Tac-22 to shoot very well and found a 1/2 case at Champions @ $5.75 a box of 50 so bought it. Not sure what's going to happen going forward but I'm good for a couple years with that. Even if the shortage is over I don't se buying anything unless there is something new I want to try.

.22 LR may have "rebounded".............but it bounded some other way than my direction.
Local Wally Worlds (3 within 25 miles of me) have not had a single round of .22 LR on a shelf any time I have been through the aisle in the last 3-4 years.
