Watching the radar yesterday and this morning, how are you guys doing with all the rain?

Pretty decent where I'm at (about 70 miles south of Charleston) but downtown Charleston around the harbor is still in a lot of water due to 10" of rain, unusually high tides and nowhere for the water to drain to. In fact, it's nice enough here that I'm planning to go to the DNR range this afternoon and sight-in a couple of rifles.

I'm in Columbia, right in the middle of it. Say a prayer for us down here, Mother Nature has unleashed her wrath like I have never seen in my 46 years. So far, I only have some roof damage to contend with but I mostly worry about trees. Some areas of town have essentially been washed away. I pray the Good Lord will see fit to push this on out of the area ASAP. As bad as we got it here, I feel terrible for the Charlestonians and other Coastal residents. My beloved Historic Charleston may not recover for some time. If you saw the radar, it looked like SC was being punished for something. Maybe we should put the flag back up?

In downtown Columbia. Much flooding all around my location. Have sent the kids to my folks and hunkering down for now.

Chickens have been hunkered down. They are glad to be out eating bugs and worms.

Nice to be a hillbilly in high country. At least all the upstate lakes are finally full.

Godspeed recovery to the low country and those along the rivers. Looks like they're opening the flood gates today so it's not over yet!!

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers gents!

Congrats Tigers!!

I have a house out from Beaufort, SC. A 1/4 inch higher and flood water would have ruined my bottom floor. I've been there since 96 and never seen anything like water that high. I have seen a few times when people with houses in lower areas put "No Wake" signs in their front yards and meant it though. My guess is that some of those people have real problems with water in their living spaces now. I haven't been over to take a look.

A combination of really high tides and a lot of rain is not good in the coastal area. The fresh water has no place to drain because the saltwater is backing up the drains used for storm water run off. A store owner in Charleston explained to me that was much of the problem they had to deal with while he sandbagged his door on the low end of his store.

There are a lot of advantages to owning property in the "low country," but this isn't one of them…

I can only imagine the size of all those water moccasins looking for higher ground.

I've seen them cross my feet while wading through shallow water to swamp stands.

Some ominous looking creatures that will almost instinctively cause you to shoot at your feet!

We got 27 inches in 2.5 days, keep bailing ladies. Columbias` infrastructure is taking a harder beating than ours I reckon.

Lot of folks with no flood insurance are hating it for sure as are the wild hogs and deer on the barrier islands. Gators are gonna eat good for awhile right before they lay down for the winter napsky.

Right now it looks like we are going to dodge the bullet here. Hate it for the folks downstream of us because I got a first hand glimpse of what's headed their way. It ain't pretty guys. Lake Murray opened one flood gate and it's about to be real crowded in the Congaree.

rut roh! Some dams might have been compromised and at serious risk. One in-particular around the Greenwood area. And the Congaree is swelling fast. 2 feet per minute.

Be safe over there folks and please let us know what you need.

saw that on the news. I remember some small lakes within FA's but no dams.

My college roommate grew up in FA's. Northshore!!
