9 pt with screwy rack right by at 10 yds made a scrape then ate 4 apples and passed by the other side of me at10 yds

Just drilled a doe looked to be a perfect shot she ran 40 yds stopped and wobbled and slowly walked off
She can't be far should have good GoPro footage

2 1/2 yr old 8 pt right to my stand could a smoked him at 10 yds too

Hunted this afternoon
Watched some doe and a spike horn at 300 yds away on neighboring property thru my bino's and then at 5:30 had a hammer 10 pt pass by thru the thick stuff at 25 yds

I hunted 12 days (eight in the rain) until Sunday, only seeing 4 deer, and killing a doe and a spike. Sunday afternoon and Monday morning I saw 13 deer, including a big eight point at fifteen yards that I will regret not shooting later. Finally some decent weather and the rut...

Glad to hear it Pat! And I know you if you didn't shoot it you won't regret it later regardless!

BTW the Texan(from hill country north of Austin) that I hired is working out great....I have to get used to hearing "yes Sir"

Great thread, Dan. It's enjoyable to read, but I wish I had that much action. I can only get out on Friday nights, Saturday mornings, and Saturday nights. I work too much.

It seems like all the action lately has been in the next field over. Hopefully, they'll start hanging around my stands soon. The bucks are definitely pushing the does around. So as they say, what goes around, comes around. I've got a couple of nice 8 pts. hanging around and I thought I saw this monster 10 pt. that I couldn't get on from last year. I hope it's him, I want his azz.

Things are winding down for archery season.I want to take another doe and started to head out this afternoon but driving rain and 30 mph winds had me turn back around and come home.
I'll try to get another for the freezer this weekend as I leave for a wedding in FL early Thursday morning
I will be missing opening day of gun season on Saturday the 21st The first time in my life that I will miss a gun opener.Gun has become a little anti climactic after archery season,which is my true love and favorite time to be in the woods.

Saw a 4 pt this morning and 1 doe and had no shot at her
It's full breeding right now and deer are pretty locked up

I saw 3 tails yesterday after a feral cat spooked them (amazing how fast a cat can run when a judo misses them by less than an inch)

You are right about being locked down. It's been getting progressively slower here all week.
