Will a modern 700 SA stock fit a 1950 vintage 722? I want to use my 257 Bob, but the stock is too nice, and I'm too clumsy anymore.

More or less. You'll have to inlet the rear sight hump and IIRC you'll have to relieve some around the safety and you'll have to take a little off the front edge of the bolt handle cut for the bolt to seat all the way.

Thanks. It's pretty straight forward and not too difficult.

Long ago, I saw a picture of Mule Deer's 722 in 257 installed in a 700 MR stock and followed suit for 722s in 22-250, 257 and a 25-284.

Check Boyd's for a 722 Classic Laminate Drop In for $130. Might save yourself a lot of fooling around .............
Have had one on on My pre-64 .30 Gibbs M70 for many years that has worked out very well.

It's easy to fit a 700 on a 722 or 721 I have a mcmillian that has gone back and forth twice on a 721. Just like what was shared above.

Here's a 722 with a 22-250 LVSF barrel and 700 ADL stock. 721 rebored to 35 Whelen in a 700 BDL stock with original 721 bottom metal.

Also, the 722 magazine box may be too tall, depending upon what you use for bottom metal. I used a bdl stock and bottom metal, and had to order a shorter magazine box.

One other thing, the 722 trigger sits further forward in the trigger guard than the 700 trigger. So if you use 700 bottom metal with the stock trigger, it will sit forward in the trigger guard. You can see that in erich's post. It's not a problem, but the opposite looks funny, a 700 trigger in 722 bottom metal. My 722 had a 700 trigger installed when I got it and the trigger sat all the way back in the trigger guard. There was enough room for it to go bang, but not much more, which is why I went with 700 bottom metal when I made the conversion.
