“The Walking Dead” has never been afraid to kill beloved characters, but in the third episode of season six, the show seemingly ripped out the beating heart of its sprawling cast, sending Steven Yeun’s Glenn Rhee toppling into a crowd of walkers where he appeared to be torn apart by the bloodthirsty horde.
Fans immediately began formulating conspiracy theories that perhaps it was Nicholas’ (Michael Traynor) entrails we saw being yanked across the screen, and “TWD” after-show, “Talking Dead,” poured more fuel on the fire when it neglected to include Glenn during the episode’s weekly “In Memoriam” segment, and aired a statement from show-runner Scott Gimple that said, “In some way, we will see Glenn, some version of Glenn, or parts of Glenn again, either in flashback or in the current story, to help complete the story.”
So is Glenn dead or alive? Was his apparent “death” a fake-out the likes of which the show has never attempted before? Variety spoke to executive producer David Alpert to try and gain some clarity on that, and learn what else is coming up for our remaining survivors in next week’s special 90-minute episode.

They always do a memorial on the Talking Dead for each person killed.
Glen was not part of the memorial. So he's not dead.

I'm not buying the guy fell on top of Glenn and the walkers won't realize he's there and not take a bite. If Glenn does survive the situation then the writers have taken the show to fantasyland.
Rick's hand, didn't think he got bit but cut it with his own knife when plunging it into the walkers head.
Carol is still total bada$$.

I don't think it showed Glenn's body getting eaten clearly enough for him to be dead. It was ambiguous, he'll escape. I agree it may take away from the show if his escape is too stupid.
The one walker that Rick killed had a machete sticking out of it, maybe he cut his hand on that?

He pulled his folding knife out of his pocket, opened it and when he stabbed one of the walkers with it the blade broke off, which is where I believe he got cut. He then grabbed the machete out of the one walker's body and finished off the others in the area.
Couple of nits to pick, one new and one old.
New - going back to last week's show. Okay, the Wolves are this pack of feral humans scavenging all over just like Rick's group and Alexandria and everybody else - but they don't have guns?! But Rick's group and everybody else has guns and enough ammo to fire full auto for the last three years.
Old: When in the ever lovin' heck are these folks gonna get themselves some decent walker stickers? Neat looking tactical knives are not built for stabbing. A sharpened screwdriver is. The day I found out how to kill walkers is the day I would have a purpose built stabbing tool permanently worn around my neck. I wouldn't sh*t, shower or jack off without my walkersticker with me 24/7. Plus I'd have my home made assegai with me all the time as well. A four foot pole with a cut off screwdriver blade inletted and epoxied into the end would have saved Glenn's ass - just stand up there and start poking heads. You can reach them but they can't reach you.
Sheesh! You'd think the writers want these people to die...
