Made it out for a little shooting with Layne today and it brought a few smiles. Here's his first shot from 100 yards with his youth .243:



After a little shooting with his rifle I let him shoot a Rem. 700 Varmint rifle (6mm Remington) that I picked up this past year. He doesn't know it yet, but it will be his rifle one of these days. Have only shot it with 70 gr. Ballistic Tips and 90 gr. Accubonds, but can tell already it is a shooter. I need to refinish the stock and then it is one of the older 700's with the 2-position safety, so I want to swap it out for a more dependable Timney trigger:

Started him on a 12" diamond target so he could see exactly where he was hitting, then he finished on the smallest steel circle. Wish I would have let the video go a little longer as he smiled ear-to-ear when he connected:
