On Sunday I cleaned the gas system of the B2000 12 Gauge that I inherited from my father in law. I doubt that the gas system had ever been cleaned, it was pretty cruddy. THe shotgun came with 3 barrels, 3" chamber full choke, 2 3/4" medium, and 2 3/4" IC. I switched out the full choke barrel for the IC barrel. It is very easy do do this.
It seems like I have read that it is alright to use the smaller sizes of steel shot with these. What are the smaller shot sizes? Is this true?
I have had this for several years now without shooting it. I have come in to a shotgun frame of mind lately and intend to get out soon to use this one and others that I own.
The quick loading port on the left side of the receiver has led to my interest in finding a Double Automatic.

Your shotgun was not manufactured for steel shot - since last year of production was '83..
However, with an IC barrel you might get away with it.. But I would NOT want to try anything tighter..
Up to you..

Call Browning customer service. Years ago, Japanese auto 5 barrels could be used on Belgian-made guns for steel shot. Maybe there are steel friendly barrels for your gun too.

I've met several guys who use 3" B2000s as their primary waterfowl guns. I assume they are shooting steel in them.
I don't fret the steel thing too much. Have shot thousands of rounds through a Stevens 311 choked M/F and an SKB 200 choked Sk/Sk. I don't shoot big shot but haven't seen any scoring or bulging.

I bulged a barrel several years ago, on an older 1100 mod choked barrel, using steel shot. Careful.

Don't shoot it in the full barrel, period. I wouldn't shoot steel in a non choke tube barrel tighter than i.c..

I was directed on another forum to Brownings website where they say that the B2000 is good to go for steel shot smaller than BB.
This is good news.I would like to use it on waterfowl if I have the chance.

Have Briley fit a choke tube to it? Not cheap but it would solve the problem.
