If I had a 6X anything to test against I would do it also... Just have not warmed to the straight powers.

First to respond, First to get it for the review. OK, This is the way to make things happen and let the members work together. Let's do internal tests amoung the members and really see what true results are.
All others that are interested please either PM or e-mail me and I will keep that info. When Cheaha is done with his review he will send the scope on to the next person on my list and so on and so on.
Cheaha, Please call me, PM or e-mail with your shipping info.

When my turn rolls around, send it my way and I'll compare it to a Leupold M8 and FXIII 6x42.

Please give me a call when you get a chance so I can take the ship to info and get you on the list. I want to try to keep this organized, in order of turns, so everyone that wants to be involved has the opportunity.
If this works out well and the forum agrees that this is a great way to test out different gear perhaps we can make this a regular feature with different scopes and binoculars. I have no problem putting some glass out there as long as it keeps moving around to the members and the reviews get written.
What are your thoughts?

Doug,
I would love to see those kind of test and reviews.

"I have a 6x42 SII on my M70 FWT Swede. Perfect scope for the rifle. Not quite as good at lowest light as my VX-III 2.5-8 BUT comes up pefectly every time."
That concerns me. The reason I want a 6X is to have a better low light scope.
Great idea, Doug. Thanks for your generosity and I will look forward to the reviews. I want a FXIII, but my budget says Pentax.

pepaw,
It isn't reason for concern. It is very good at low light, it just isn't QUITE as good as a scope that costs over twice as much.
Still have no problem seeing things through the scope that the nekkid eye has issues with.

Does the Gameseeker also have the whole eye piece that turns to adjust the power? I have a couple Burris, and a Pentax Pioneer, I really like the optics, but don't like the eyepiece design.
thanks.

The eyepiece does not turn when you adjust the power, however, it does when you adjust the focus.

I think it's a great idea to get real world tests and comparisons for Campfire members.
I'll send it to whoever you wish, after I test it against my 6x42 Leupold and play around w/ the Multi-Reticle...

I'll stick it on my Mickey Coleman Built 7mm-08 Titanium as it would seem to be a perfect fit. It currently sports a VX-III 2.5x8x36. Results to follow.....

OK, I've got a wonderful idea to put this whole thread into perspective. Who wants to test drive a Pentax Gameseeker 6x42? Come on now, don't be shy. All I ask is the person who gets it, checks it out and then posts an honest and complete review on this thread. Fair enough???? If this is of interest to anyone here contact me and I will send one out. After you check it out perhaps you will be kind enough to pass it around to other members that have an interest. That would be great. Let's get some real reviews from the membership. Doug, I'd be interested in that offer. Just this morning I sent out emails to Burris, Sightron, Leupold and Meopta about getting fixed power 6x scopes from them for review purposes, so adding Pentax to the list wouldn't be a problem at all. I'm not going to do this as a comparitive review, but rather a series of independant reviews for each model followed up by a summary article outlining the best features of each so people can choose which one they feel would best suit their particular needs. Requested models were as follows: Sightron SII 6x42mm Burris FullField II 6x42mm Leupold FX-III 6x42mm Meopta Artemis 2000 6x42mm Designed a better box today for testing light transmission and it seems to work very well, so now I just need to figure out an economical way to accurately measure resolution.
As long as there's still lead in the air, there's still hope!

I would be interested in where the 6x Nikon falls in with these scopes. Any chance you can review that one also Jim?

Mr Furious,
I emailed Pentax with the same question and received a nice drawing detailing the drop and width.
There are four stadia below the central crosshair that correspond to 200, 300, 400, and 500 yards. The horizontal distance of each line represents 36 inches at its range. In other words, the 300 yard stadia is 36 inches wide at 300 yards
The 200 yard stadia is 1.5 moa drop
The 300 yard stadia is 4.5 moa drop
The 400 yard stadia is 7.5 moa drop
The 500 yard stadia is 11 moa drop

I would be interested in where the 6x Nikon falls in with these scopes. Any chance you can review that one also Jim? I knew I had forgotten one on the list above, just couldn't think of it. Yes, a Nikon Monarch UCC 6x42mm has also been requested. Got a reply from Leupold this afternoon and they're sending the FX-III out tomorrow. Should have confirmation on all the others by the end of the week (assuming no one's not out of the office this week). The Burris and Meopta are the only questionable ones as we've never dealt with either before. Meopta planned to participate in our last comparisons, but they couldn't get scopes to us before the deadline. Burris was invited to participate in them as well, but never responded to our invitations. Smokey, thanks for the info on the stadia spacing. Much appriciated! I was actually going to call them in the morning to get the details since no one had posted up yet, so you just saved me the dime. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

OK, This is great. We have the first three names and addresses lined up. Come on now, there must be more than three of you that really want to participate in this. Just PM or e-mail me with your name, address and phone # so I can put you into the rotation. As stated earlier, if all goes well with this test we will start doing regular tests of different optics, maybe even some cameras. All I ask is that when you get the item give it a good and complete test, post your review/thoughts and then get it shipped out to the next guy. As soon as you are done with your examination contact me so I can give you the next guys information. It would be great if we can get a new review/opinion every 10 days to 2 weeks.
Again, thanks for getting involved.
