Cabela's GM denies it a few minutes ago at the one here in Thornton, CO. Stated that they got a directive from Corporate stating that Bass Pro was not buying Cabela's. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

I certainly hope Cabela's isn't taken over by Bass Pro. I've always found Cabela's to be the better place to go; better offerings, sales, and prices. I did find this funny though:

It appears to be an interesting weave of business.
Paul singer is the majority owner in stock of cabelas. He and BPS are striking the deal. Sad but cabelas can only sit by and watch the show they are not making any decisions since singer holds the cards.

According to the internet, Paul Singer and his interests own 11.1% of Cabelas. Quite a ways from "Majority Owner".

Might have zip for any value at all. Typically it's pretty good info but hey I'm not kreskin. I just posted something I thought was interesting.

I hope it's not true. I like Cabelas, I don't want Bass Pro Shops and their Wal-mart model anywhere near them.

purchases of publically held companies do not work that way. Bass Pro is working to put together an offer, which is then assessed by the board and accepted or rejected. Assuming the shareholders don't object, cause in the end it is any offer for shares of stock. No exchange of stock, since Bass Pro is privately held

So, I just talked to a manager at the Sidney Nebraska store, he said it is all rumor, and that none of the three parties have made any statement. "Once investor activists get involved, you will see alot of the crap" his words to the tee....
