I got this 8 point yesterday afternoon. I bought the 760 the year High Brass was born and it became his favorite rifle. He put a Vari-X III 2.5x8 on it. I have it now and used ammo he had loaded for it. I field dressed it with his knife. It was a great day but lacking without him hunting with me.

When I was a boy I remember always looking down at my kill as soon as I got to it. As I get older and loss more lovedone/hunting partners I find my self looking up first. High brass beat you to your buck. Good job and best wishes.

DeereJohn2, thanks for sharing your story. I hunt on Westvaco property at O'Brien lake. There's a Fisher family cemetery on the lease.

Yes. About 325-350 yards SW of the cemetery.

Nice deer buddy.
There have been several nice deer taken in WV this year.

I can't express what I want to say here and have it make sense. Great story and a great buck. Wasn't no way this wasn't going to happen when you took that gun with his loads. Hope this helps you to get past this. I bet he is smiling. Congrats on a Real Trophy of a Lifetime.

Dave, when you sent the photo, I saw the rifle and knew which one it was. I was beside myself for you in your success but as I sit here finally able to process it I am in grief and in elation. Now that folks have left and the day is winding down I think back to the years of calls or text from Chad when he relayed funny stories or called to discuss the days afield with you while hunting. I can not say I have missed Chad ever as much as I do today. My heart cries and my eyes weep. Thank you for sharing this buck with me and the story with us all. It truly is a special buck for more reasons than most will ever know.
Fwiw, Big John killed a buck with his .280 a week or so back. While I have little hope of such a buck I do hope to punch a tag with his .308 before the season is done.
