Periodically I ask you guy's if there is a Nikon scope you would like to see produced or a scope that you would like to see in some other configuration.
I do freelance Shooting Event's/PR for Nikon and they are always looking for new idea's from those of us who pull the trigger in the field and at the range. Your responses are part of the reason for Nikon's Rimfire line of optic's so don't think your comment's will not be considered. I asked this same question in the hunting optic section to see what comment's I might get.

As an avid AR shooter and hunter with my AR there are always configuration's I think I would like to see and reading your suggestion's will surely be interesting.

I look forward to reading your sugggestion's. Thanks!

How about a compact low powered AR optic WITHOUT a BDC reticle

A 30 mm tube 42 mm objective 1.5-6 power with a hunting #4 with the turrets and as durable/reliable and accurate adjustments as the SWFA scopes.

Yes, the BDC suck. Give me real mil dots and an AO.

First: A Warranty that is not restricted to original purchaser. Nikon will never be a consideration otherwise.

Second: Loose the circles on the BDC.

Third: please see the first

Give me....
At least 100' FOV @ 100 yards
An enormous eyebox (whatever a VX6 1-6 has is enough)
Really, really good glass (a flat, undistorted image is more important than brightness)
A useable BDC reticle set up for 75/77grain .223
-Tic marks every 50 yards to 600 (tiny tics at the 50s)
-Windage marks for 10mph on the 100s
A 1/2" daylight bright dot
Lockable turrets with caps and a zero stop
16oz weight or less
1-6 preferably
Price it at $800 or less

In that order.

you had any trouble with your VX-6? I ask because I had to send my back to Leup. The importance of ruggedness and accuracy in the mechanics cannot be overstated.

Right after I got it I sent it back because the Firedot was flickering and it got fixed. Apparently that was an issue right after they came out but I never had any trouble after they fixed it.

Thank's for your replies!

I undestand the BDC circles are not for everyone. Just out of curiosity for those of you who do not like the circles, have you ever shot a rifle with a Nikon BDC scope on it?

I am taking note of what you guy's have to say and I will pass the comment's along.

Chilin, Check out Nikon's No Fault Policy, I think that will do away with any warranty concerns you might have. Run over it with your 4-wheeler,covered!

Bman,

Yes, I have shot a rifle with a BDC scope and I do not like the circles. I liked a lot of the other features of the scope, but those damn circles are a turn off for me.

I have used a few Nikon scopes. I won't buy any of their current offerings, for one reason - no mil-dot reticle with matching turrets.

Make some sort of mil reticle (not BDC!) and mil turrets an option, and I'd buy several. Moa/moa would be OK too, although not my preference, just don't mix mil/moa.

Nikon could do very well with a product that competes with Leupold's Mark AR series.

Thank you again. Jeff, I appreciate the reply. I'm glad your reply about not liking the BDC circles is based on experience. Some great suggestion's guy's!

I almost forgot, I'd like to see a magnification range of 1.5x6.
