I don't know exactly what the thunder load is,but I used to buy the regular Privi cheap soft point 50s for my 222 before I got into loading. They shot plenty good to hunt with, and I killed a lot of ground hogs, and a few turkey, and deer with them.I still use some of the brass from them..They weren't super accurate, and the brass wasn't consistant. The bolt would close easily with some, and with some it took some force, but at $11.00 a box at the time when the Remington were around $21.00 I found them to be a bargain

Privy thunder load reads like a Taco Bell menu item.

Explain what a Prvi Thunder Load is.
I did just order 7 boxes of Prvi Partisan in 7.65 Argentine.

Serbian TBBC knockoff, kinda sorta. Not bonded to my knowledge. http://www.prvipartizan.com/rifle_grom.phpI bought three boxes for my Sako FN High Power because my son has all my '06 dies. $16.00 a box I think. Shoots about as well as I can considering the 2.5X scope.

Ah, Good old Taco Bell. Used to be one of my favorite places when I spent my nights riding around in a telco truck. Where else can you get a full stomach, killer heartburn, and Privy Thunder at 0200 for $1.29. Good times.

Hey Pappy. Actually, I have. I shot this little boar with it last week (79 pounds) at about 30 yards. There was a nice .284 inch hole on one side, and an exit hole about the size of a quarter on the other. The one thing I noticed about it is that it isn't nearly as destructive as the 139 grain C&C PSP. Here is the exit wound from the Grom (Thunder) 158 grain load: And here is the typical result of the 139 grain PSP (same distance, similar size boar, more or less same shot - bone to tissue): At this point, the number of pigs I've used the Grom (Thunder) on is one, so the jury is still out. But it shoots very accurately in this old rifle and I have several boxes of it, so I'll continue to use it and see how it goes. RM
"An archer sees how far he can be from a target and still hit it, a bowhunter sees how close he can get before he shoots." It is certainly easy to use that same line of thinking with firearms. -- Unknown

Thanks, Parson. Unless there's rain in the forecast, I'll probably be carrying the Sako again Monday morning, so maybe I'll have some data to share. I usually try for heart shots when possible and less destruction is a good thing when you get close to that tasty shoulder meat.

The partizan is what I use on hogs and yotes... I head shoot hogs and it leaves a nice exit. I catch it when its on sale online. Usually get it for about $13 a box shipped.

I've got a few boxes of 8x57, US spec loads, have been thinking about pulling them down and loading them with a proper dose of CFE223.
