Last night I was trying to do some shopping on-line for Christmas. My phone dings, GB alert item ending. I will just take an quick peak, delete and continue shopping. NO, I was snagged by this sultry 303 winks at me; I'll just bid, plenty of time for someone to swoop in and I will be safe feeling I did my part in a fleeting flirtation. Nope; it followed me home. 303 #3 now heading to my house. Merry Christmas to me I guess. Now if I can just find a 99F 243 under the tree.

I got the same alert for the same rifle, but managed to hold back. You did quite well. Enjoy that 99G.

I often said that if I narrowed down my wild-eyed approach to gun collecting, I would concentrate on acquiring one each 1899/99 model/variation that was offered in .303. That would be quite a lot of Savages in .303 lined up in the safe.

If you went with every variation (1895 to 99) of non-engraved (excluding the K) you would be somewhere around 70. If less picky it would be around 28.

1895A 1895B 1895C 1895D (good luck on this!) 1895F 1899A 1899A SR 1899B 1899C 1899D 1899F 1899H 99A 99B 99C 99D 99E 99F 99G 99H 99R 99T 99EG 99RT I get 24 without the 99K. You must be adding in the 1899 AB, CD, etc?

What is a 1895D? Don't remember that in Murray's book.

Murray didn't label any of the 1895's. It would be the 1895 musket. I think I've heard of 2 or maybe 3 that exist.

What are you using for a cut off date for the 1899 to the 99?? When you count the takedowns if you count the 2 d's in the 1899 or the 2 d's in the 99 the c's then add in the stock style your count goes up fast

Only listed the models that were available when the 303 was available, but you are right.. 1899D and 1899MHG were different. And missed the 99RS. Skipped the 250-3000 cuz, well, wouldn't make sense to buy a 250-3000 in 303. Not sure what you mean by the two 99D's? And checkering styles also make it climb fast.
