Question, has anyone tried a 783 Remington mag. Bolt head on x-7 30-06? I would like to make a 300 wsm on a x-7, and from what can see and measure, with out taking both apart, they seem to be the same. I.E. Ejector, extractor, maybe firing pin. Swap bolt head, new barrel, cal. You can't buy in the x-7

Yes, The 783 is the same as the X7 series.
Swap away my friend.
Several places sell them, but a word of caution. There have been several reports of issues with PTG. Several claiming that after a long wait, they were sent a Savage bolt head, which doesn't interchange.

Thanks for the information Darkker, i thought they were, but didn't know about the Ptg .On that note, savage small, 308 to mag, bolt head,110 1990, does the new or smaller firing pin that must be changed along the cross pin, does there need to be alteration to the pin to make it work in the mag bolt face. 110 is push feed. As i understand that i can buy the mag bolt head, but firing pin and cross pin has to be changed. Any knowledge would be helpful, thanks again
