I see where FN Winchester is cataloging several varieties of M70 264WMg's at just under/over $1000 List...is this the best thing on the market for the bux, and how is availablity or is this another Golden Fleece kinda thing? A 26" brl'd Sporter looks pretty good to me. Any other brands to look at, besides MRC's ASR's, which is OK too.
Looking to narrow the component list on the bench, and pair up a 264WMg with a 260 T3, that has all but replaced my 270 in usage. Ron

Had the feelers out this spring for one, nothin at the time, was told Winchester was supposed to be doing another run this fall. Ran across an Ultimate Shadow on Gunbroker, figured it best to round it up. 26' barrel, other than the stock, think it,s the same running gear as the sporter, unless it,s a thinner barrel contour. Right at 700 bucks, this one had the camo stock, RMEF edidtion, and since I had been planning to throw a synthetic stock on, didn,t hurt my feelings at all.
Seem to be a little tougher to track down, but seem to see em every once in awhile. Good luck on the search!

Thks guys...the $700 one sounds like it'd be worth chasing down, at least for a hands on look see. I'll be in Cabelas Allen & BPS Grapevine - DFW area stores 2 hours +/- from me - over the next week or so and figured those'd be the only "local" retailers that might have something in stock to fondle. Cabela's doesn't stock any rifles in .264 WM, don't know about Bass Pro. I've been casually Looking for a M70 Sporter .264 WM but haven't found one.

Picked up a 264 WM in a Win Sporter this spring. 1/2" groups after playing with the stock a bit to float it. Paid around $800 for it. Decent wood stock and feels good in my hands.

I have an EW model 70 in 264 mag. Plan to use it in 2016 on Elk if I draw a tag. It has a 26 inch fluted SS barrel, and stainless action. Cost over 1K though.

H22, does your CDL have a fluted barrel? Those .264 CDLs are rare, I have one in stainless fluted, and elected not to get the blue fluted version. Been kicking myself ever since!

I bought a pre-64 Model 70 Westerner at Green Top Arms in VA about 8-9 nine years ago. It was well under $1K. I put a syn stock on it, full length bedded it, added a 6.5-20 Zeiss with turrets on it ...and now I am fully 100% confident with it to 600 yards on deer sized game with handloads, which go 3250 BTW. I have hit small pumpkins with it at 800+, but not enough times to feel 100% confident to go that far for hunting.
Dont be worried to go used. Just know how to tell if a bore is good or not. The 264 isnt a cal that everyone is looking for at gun shows or pawn shops. The price of factory ammo scares them away. Use that to your advantage.

K-Var was offering .264 WMs on Zastava 98s w/ double set triggers a few years ago. Only drawback in my mind was the 24" barrel.
If I recall correctly they labeled them as Model 70s. They might be worth checking out.
I'd think you could find an old push-feed Win M70 in 7RM & rebarrel and still come in around $800-ish?
Good luck in your search; that CDL of Huntsman's sure looks nice...
