For sale: Marlin 336 SC Sporting Carbine, .30-30, 20" barrel. M serial number prefix puts date of manufacture at 1955. I got it from the daughter of a Michigan deer hunter after his death and according to her he was the original and sole owner until I got it. This was made in a transition time after Marlin starting factory D&T but before they went to Micro-Groove rifling. Everything is original except the buttplate (original was cracked slightly), bullseye and front sight. Missing one top filler screw. The butt plate and bullseye are genuine JM Marlin replacement parts. The front sight is a replacement Skinner blade to go with a Williams FP sight I had on it. It has Ballard rifling and is very accurate with cast bullets and jacketed. I would rate the bluing as 98% or better, there really aren't any wear spots on the polished bluing except on the moving parts where'd you expect, nor any freckling. There is sort of an outline of a scope mount on the matte top of the receiver but you have to hold it in the right light to see that. The wood has a few small dents, mostly the left side of the buttstock but you have to really look for them in good light as well. The biggest "problem" is that the original owner inscribed his license number under the lever. The wood is gorgeous! I'll let the pictures do the talking on that. Because of the condition and the wood I am asking $650 shipped within the lower 48. AK and HI lets call it $635 plus actual shipping. USPS money order or certified funds only. No trades. I'll be glad to answer any questions but first unconditional "I'll take it" gets it. Your FFL dealer must accept shipment from a non-FFL holder. NO EXCEPTIONS.As always, you have three days after delivery to return it. If you are unhappy with it in any way you may return it in the same condition as received as long as you have not made the FFL transfer and I would refund your money less the actual cost of shipping. Once you make the FFL transfer, it's yours. Kind of a rainy day but I managed to snap a couple of pics before moving under cover. These were taken on a sunny day after I got the rifle but really show off the wood. Sunlight makes the wood come alive. A few more pics to follow.

Do you mean this one? What you're seeing is a fresh coat of Montana gun oil smeared by my thumb to wipe a rain drop off of it. It had just started to rain again - you can see my wet patio there - so I took the pic quickly under natural light then took it in my garage for more pictures. If it is cold blue then someone did a terrific job of matching the finish on both sides. Kidding aside, they really don't polish them like this anymore and haven't for the last few decades. It's not some super duper Colt Royal blue or anything but compared to even a 70's or 80's Marlin, well, there just is no comparison. And I'm not trying to win any awards for hyperbole here.

Thank you. Let's see if we can't make it a little nicer. Price is $625 shipped in the lower 48, AK and HI would be $610 plus actual shipping. All other original conditions apply.

Nice Marlin! I wish I needed another Marlin 30-30 as this one would definitely be one I would like to own. There is definitely something special about those 1950's Marlin lever actions!

That's the original owner's driver's license number, at least that's what I was told by his daughter.

Is it factory drilled for scope mount? If not, do you have the mount shown in the pics? Also, is that the original front sight?

No offense intended, but your questions are answered in the original post...
