My first deer rifle is tucked in the back of my safe. A plain jane synthetic stocked model 70 in 30-06. I've been giving some thought to putting it in a nice walnut stock. My question is can I buy a Winchester factory stock? My rifle has no bottom metal, just the trigger guard. I've poked around the www a bit and I don't think I've stumbled on a factory stock without the cut out for the mag and bottom medal. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

What you're looking for does not exist in a factory stock. Only options would be aftermarket stock or, finding the bottom metal and hardware to add.

Wonder if a 670 stock would work? There's a couple on ebay but they're usually hardwood though. Boyds make M70 stocks with blind magazines. http://www.boydsgunstocks.com/Produ...n-factory-barrel-channel-walnut-finished

That's the information I was looking for...granted not what I was hoping to hear. I may just go the Boyds route but I'll stumble around eBay first. Thanks for the help. Matt

There have been Model 70's made with walnut stocks and blind mags. I had one and my brother has one in 7 Mag from the mid 70's. The Rangers were also made with blind mags as well as floorplates but these are plain birch stocks.

Winchester did make blind mag stocks.
They were on the 670 (pretty ugly birch) and on the 70A (quite nice walnut).
IF you can find one for a 70A, which were all long action, then you would have a nice one. But they are rare to find.

The one I had was marked Model 70 Westerner, in 300 Win Mag, a friend still owns it. My brother's is a 7 Mag marked Model 70. These are push feeds with walnut stocks. There should be some of these stocks out there. Yes, there was a push feed "Westerner" with a blind magazine and a walnut stock. http://www.gunauction.com/buy/11590228http://www.gunauction.com/buy/9894764

There are several hardwood 670 stocks on ebay right now. Some 70a walnut stocks, too.
