Would like to shoot in at least one of these in the near future and would like to hear form those that have shot it. I see on the video that some guys are shooting off of shooting sticks so I am assuming that LOS doesn't allow a bipod for every shot. Anything needed on the equipment list that's not listed on the website or shown in the video? Any cartridge restrictions? I am considering bringing my 22-250.

Thanks,

John

Velocity limit on steel was 3200 FPS last time I checked (IIRC). Most shooters carry some type of pack with them during the match since you have to carry everything you plan on using with you the whole way. Rcamuglia shoots the match all the time so you might PM him.

If you get there early you'll have a chance to shoot on the sight in portion of the range.

It's a fun match and well worth doing if you like long range shooting.

Gotta be 6mm or larger with a max velocity of 3200fps. They do let the "Bandits" run the course, those are AR style .223s.

Sticks are only necessary on one stage, other than that all the shots are prone.

It's a good time, fairly laid back match in a gorgeous setting, very similar to the kind of country a guy would shoot an elk/deer/pronghorn in....... and you're likely to see all of those animals too.

It sounds like a bunch of fun and I bet I'll learn something too. Bummer about the 6mm restriction. My preferred 22-250 load is a hair under 3200... Guess I'll put the 6.5x47 barrel back on.

I forgot all about the 6mm restriction, but it's been a while since I shot the match. I need to go ahead and try and make 1 or 2 matches this year.

Its a blast! Member rcumuglia kept inviting me and I finally went to the shoot. In two and half years I've only missed two matches (elk hunting in Sept). There's a sight in practice session on Saturday afternoon the day before the match. You can shoot a lttle in the morning as well. Closest target is around 200yds, furthest is 885yds. Beautiful country, usually some wildlife to see. Match is spread out over 2 miles, so you'll walk about 3-3.5 miles for the day.

FNG's are cut a little slack in the beginning and dont have to be wind b!#chs. A lot of nice guys that help out new guys.

Great wind conditions that will teach a guy thier limits for hunting or great practice for shooters that compete frequently.

Highly recommend it!
