Putting a new barrel on my 22-250. Will be matt in the future. The current Gloss VXII 4x12 won't look right. Anyone tried the Burris Predator Fullfield 4.5-14x42mm Ballistic Plex E1 Reticle Other suggestions?
Just my 2 cents.

A Doe walks out of the woods today and says, that is the last time I'm going to do that for Two Bucks.

Do you want to stay in the approx same power range?
A couple that come to mind depending on budget: (all used prices) $175 Bushnell Elite 10x
$260 SWFA SS 12x or 16x milquad
$450 Leupold vari-x III 6.5-20
$650 Sightron SIII 6-24
$1200 Nightforce 5.5-22

Steve
Really need a variable. At times I use this rifle for night shooting with a spot light. Lower power makes it easier to quickly pick up the eye reflection.
Can't remember using a 20x I do like my 4.5x14 Fullfield II.
Just my 2 cents.

Ramrod340: "Looks" aren't everything, they say. I have several Varmint guns that do not "match up" finish wise with the scope/barrel/action. The Varmints probably won't know/care. I say keep that fine Leupold 4x12. If you really MUST have a matte finish scope to match your barrel then I recommend trading the Leupold 4x12 in for a matte finished Leupold 4.5x14 with adjustable objective. These ARE superb scopes. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy

Be hard to give up on your current scope if it is clear, tracks true and holds zero. New one may not do one or all of these things.

Thanks for everyone's input. First if the gloss scope was going to simply sit on the shelf it would have stayed on the 22-250.
I have to remove it to have the barrel replaced and reblued anyway. Either it or a new scope will need to be sighted back in. Comparing my 20+ yr. of VXII 4x12 to my 5 yr. old Burris FFII 4.5x14x42 to me it seems the Burris is clearer/brighter.
So I ordered a new Burris 4.5x14. The VXII will simply bump a Simmons off a 243. So the 243 wins and my new 22-250 barrel will have no excuse because my old eyes will be able to see better. Sounds like a win/win
Just my 2 cents.
