Or go down to the reloading room for a little graphite.

As a philosophical topic, if it had been on your britches instead of your jacket, would you rather it got stuck at the top going down, or the bottom coming up? We need to think about these things.

I've fixed many stuck ones with a pair of pliers and some force. If one side is higher than the other, work it 1 link at a time until they're even. An encyclopedia of American Slang can be useful, too.

Sounds about as much fun as pulling teeth.
smile

Okay, true story.
Dad has told this since I was a little kid.

He and his cousin as boys enjoyed climbing up on the chicken coop and trying to piss down on unwary chickens below.
One day his cousin finished up last as he climbing the tree back down and all of a sudden poor, poor cousin started screaming bloody murder.
Grandma came running out of the house to find dad staring wide eyed and cousin jumping down, still screaming.
She ran over, took one look, then grabbed his belt and yanked the zipper down.
It had a little bit of nut sack stuck in the teeth.
Not much, but a little bit is all it takes.

I usually hand over the offending garment to my wife. She fixes it (don't know how) then after listening to some "guidance" I am good to go till the next time.

OP I have a great but finicky jacket. Holding the bottom of the jacket firmly and pulling out ward and downward gets it every time. I think I am going to spray some silicon on the dang thing......one day.

Figure we been putting up with zippers for how long now???? Velcro is too noisy and laces too slow. Billions of people in the world and some Asian dude hasn't thought of a better way yet?

The Asians sell a lot of clothing by installing junk for zippers. They break long before the item is worn out. They also use inferior thread so the seams tear out long before the cloth is worn out.

One must examine your parts to get a full grip on the mechanics of what goes on. There just isn't much to the system with its 3 moving parts. Bend the press open a wee bit to get it loose. Reset everything and crimp it back into position.

Thank you for that admission. I feel slightly better
