Set 4 dog proof traps out about a month ago and pretty quickly got 6 coons. Went medium size then a couple of large coons and the last one was small. For the last 2 1/2 weeks nothing. Traps are set and baited with marshmallows and corn but nothing. Have I trapped it out? What say the experts.
I have heard there is also some disease going around that makes them internal hemorrhage and go to water and die. Seen two recently in other locales that were really scrawny.

Interesting to know.
I've trapped with dp traps around corn feeders and have caught several a night for a couple nights in a row.
Also have seen as many as 9-10 on camera at once at a feeder.
Caught 5 trying to eat fresh planted corn in my garden.
Maybe try different bait, maybe they've wised up.
I've had luck with dry cat food, strawberry marshmallows, and gummi Bears mixed together soaked in vanilla extract.

Some locations draw and hold more coons than others... in use silage pits, flowing streams, orchards, etc. but 6 coons from 6 acres is good... I've got a few properties that I trap that are each over a thousand acres and I've never came close to 1 per acre average, more like 1 to 10 or 15. That being said it's not that unusual for me to catch 4-6 coons in the same trap in the same location.

I keep a spreadsheet on coons trapped and calculate the time between coons. It is 50 days average over 4 years. I get the whole family, and then have to wait for a new family to move in.
So the wait is between 0 and 169 days.
