Bobby did go hand to hand with that hog.
Roger and Leighton also had that fun too at different times.
Bobby got his in a undercut on a river bank (dry river) had to crawl in and stick that sucker. He did, he's still got his back so he gets to do those things.

Hey Pat, got an idea, even if the hog is dead, stick him in the heart anyway. Blood that knife.

OK hosers, quick report from on the road...
You WILL need a kill light, these pigs are big and wild, and mostly nocturnal.
I use the Wicked Lights 403 IC from Allpredatorcalls.com http://www.allpredatorcalls.com/wic...-led-for-predator-and-hog-night-hunting/I've used the XLR 250 Kill Light and the Wicked 400 with two batteries. The 403 has an intensity control knob. With the others they are at full power. With those you should hold your rifle vertical, turn on the light then slowly bring the beam down on the animal. Sometime that even spooks them. The 403 not only telescopes from wide beam to narrow (sqaure) beam but the intensity can be turned all the way down allowing you stay on target and slowly turn up the intensity. IMHO works much better. The only draw-back is that because of the IC knob the light is easily turned on in your pack. I either make sure the I/C is turned all the way down or take out the battery until I'm ready to turn on the light. old style without I/c new light with I/C As I use a number of rifles I also got the universal quick mount. I can change from one rifle to another in just over a minute. some folks prefer red. I use green. JAPPFT GWB Geedubya tell me about the #1 Ruger... I had mine last year rigged up with the kill light 6.5x55 but no pigs to poke for me last go round

OK, I'll try to answer a couple questions. Range set up is 50 and 100 yards, onl;y a couple people can shoot at a time. There is a mechanical skeet thrower.... Stands are sometimes older and a bit used ( read that to mean they are noisy if you aren't careful) typical yardage is 50-100 yards. Rifles I used: only used one on the pig hunt, the McFlame w .2233ai with Dobers favorites 63 Grain Sierra SMP...it performed exActly as Dober always described. Two pigs, two head shots, two exits. Here are some pics: Accommodations Pond and pier: fish aren't too big in there yet... Pool where Pat and I will be lounging in our leopard print Speedos..

Try to answer one other question as to kill lights. I think Geedub answered it well though! ( BTW: Glad you are coming down GWB, looking forward to meeting you!)
The light Ive been using is a Sniper Hog Light- "Destroyer" model in green. I have found it good to 100 yards no problem.

Tom, I don't see the light mounted on McFlame in the pics. Did you use it off the rifle?

Yep...light in left hand, rifle in right! I have a scope mount though, and I'll be experimenting with that before March. One word for everybody. Pigs often come in just past shooting light but not black dark. I managed to spook off two sounders by lighting them up at this time. Had I shown some patience and let them feed till black dark, they would have held still, which others did after dark....

I see a lot of people mounting their lights on the scope tube. I guess recoil doesn't cause any scope trouble with all that mass way up above the bore? These are brand new to me.
