First which caliber did you get?

How do you like it?

My local dealer finally has the Ruger Precision rifle available in .243 at $1075 and I am wondering if I should just go for it or wait for a 6.5 Creedmoor?

They are not overly optimistic on how fast they can get the 6.5 but I can have the .243 in a week.

I got a 6.5. Like it. 6 of one, half dozen of the other......your choice.

Picked up a 243 shortly after they were released mainly because it appeared my 105 AMAX's had been reproducing and I had a sch!t load of them I needed to shoot.

Didn't spend much time fiddling with finding a load as it seemed to like the AMAX and 7828SSC right from the beginning.

A recent 100 yd range session on an ATLAS bipod...upper right are first two shots after taking the scope off/on, twisted down/left, then 9 rounds to confirm. It's been a blast to clank steel.

I agree with Don's statement between the two. Factory match offerings for the 243 seem anemic but handloading takes care of that.

I don't have one, but have shot them....

If I were you, wait till your dealer gets it in and then go see how the stock fits your face. I can't seem to get a good cheek weld on that stock. Otherwise, it seems to be a great rifle.

I would go 6.5 Creed. Better BC's and better performance downrange.

I bought a 6.5 creed but I am heavily invested in 6.5 caliber a so all I had to do was get brass. Otherwise any caliber would be great. And if you want to switch, it's a straight forward procedure. And guys are selling barrels of the other calibers all the time over on snipers hide for between 150-200$.

I just looked and a brand new take off RPR in 6.5 creed barrel sold for $200 on SH. Just think you basically have a switch barrel rifle once you get one.

I picked one up in .308 because I'm heavily invested in components for that caliber. I'm pleased with it, but will be picking up a barrel in 6.5.
