I am planning on buying a new air rifle. I have an old Gamo 1000 and the trigger absolutely sucks. I have narrowed my choice of a new rifle down to either an RWS 34 or a Weihrauch HW95. Do both of these riddles have good triggers? BTW, the new one will be a .22 caliber. This rifle will be used for back yard practice and pests.

I can't speak of the newer RWS triggers but an older 34 I had was okay. However the nicest trigger I've ever used on a springer is the Rekord that comes on a Weihrauch. Between the two you listed, the HW95 is the one I'd pick.

I own both. The HW is a cut above. The To6 trigger is very good, but not a Rekord. Mercedes vs. Impala.

Good advise above - the Rekord trigger is what all others are judged by. Nice rifle (same as R-9) but costs about twice what the RWS does. FWIW I love my R-9.

Thanks for all the help. What about scope mounts for the HW95? I have a set of 1" Weaver tip off rings that should fit, but will they hold zero?

The English made "Sports Match" is what was recommended for my HW95 & 30S. RWS 34 - about $240. HW 95 - on sale - $300.

Good/Great rings are a must. As hard as a springer is on scopes it is equally hard on rings. I have had good luck with the Beeman 5030 rings. FWIW I have a Nikon 3-9X40 EFR Target scope on my R9 - nice rig.

The Weaver rings will most likely slide in the dovetail. You'll need either some sort of scope stop or something like the BKL once piece mount that really clamps down on that dovetail.

Most of the 'Air Gun' rings will have a pin that threads down through the mount and goes into a hole machined into the receiver to keep the mount from sliding. The BKL is a heavy duty mount and works excellent.

I've used the one piece BKL's on everything from a FWB 124 up to an RWS 350 and never had any problems with movement.
