I had something like that I built while I was in school. It was a little bigger and had a place for my loading blocks & primer tray with storage underneath for the metallic components. I used a long bar clamp to keep it secured to the desk in my bedroom while I was using it and stashed it in my closet when it wasn't being used. I thought I had a picture but I can't seem to find it.

That's all I have is a portable. Never leaves the house though. It does get moved around. My buddy made mine. Works fine.
The Woodchuck Den sells one for about $70. Solid oak I believe, "Amish Made".

It would be interesting to see how that is set up and used.
Other than that, How was the show Mrs. Lincoln?

Having a place to take it to is key to my "portable" set up. The 3/16" base plate on my press is key..damn nice to just get it all done in one session, even trying multiple bullets and powder. worth the effort IMO.

Having torn a half moon chunk out of a benchtop a metallic mounting plate is a good idea. I would use aluminum rather than steel to save weight. LEE reloading presses used to come with a wooden storage box that could be opened up to form a mount for the press which could be clamped to the bench top. I always thought that was a neat idea. Most guys that load at the range that I've seen use B&D Workmate or a small roll around toolbox for their loading operations.

I'm a retired goldsmith/watchmaker and I even though I know little about woodworking, I attempted it as I would a gold project. There is absolutely nothing I would change. Works absolutely perfectly. Here are a couple more photos of it: Have a Blessed Easter, Steve

I've always liked the B&D Workmate conversion and considered building one with a top that was also a chest to contain the reloading gear in transport. Ultimately, I came to the conclusion there are simpler, lighter, and more modular solutions. I've been mounting my gear to aluminum angle 3.5" x 6" x 3/8". I can slip it into a undermount woodworking vise or a simple receiver.

An 18" piece of 2x6 and a C-Clamp will get you a long ways..... I've clamped this'n to benches, truck beds, tailgates, bumpers, tables, etc..... it has saved me hundreds of dollars in fuel.
You better pray to the God of Skinny Punks that this wind doesn't pick up......
