Hi All, Glad to be part of the Savage Forum. My name is Lane Savage from Hastings PA Cambria County. My first Savage 99 was given to me by my Dad in 1974 , a model 99E in .243 Hunted a lot of deer with it over the years. I just picked up a 1917 Perchbelly 99 in .250-3000 I'll post a pic as soon as I can. Hope to learn a lot from everyone and I see you have a Savage fest in Wellsboro this year. I plan to visit Saturday if possible.

Welcome. Love those 250's, stock up on ammo or brass, it's getting hard to come by, Joe.

Welcome! Look for a local Savage anonymous group to join now to keep your upcoming addiction under control. Refrain from looking at Savage 99 gun porn pictures especially the engraved ones. Don't say you haven't been forewarned. Best GW

Welcome,
What's the twist and barrel length of your 250?
Is it drilled & tapped for a scope? Where is it's safety?

Welcome lane. Your journey has just begun and if it gets a bit overwhelming and it will at times this is were you come for help. With your last name probably sooner than later. One thing, it never gets old with 89/99s. Steve

It's a good thing that your last name isn't something repulsive like Winchester, Remington, or Ruger. Welcome aboard!

Great welcome! Thanks! I do wish I was a relative of Arthur but alas its not so. I can see that I can find all kinds of support here if I become weak and must have another 99. wyo1895...yes I am planning to get your book so have a good inscription ready. I have a small amount of brass but seeing that the reloadabe brass business is going to dry up I better get on the ball and find some. I've been reloading for over 40 years now and I'm itching to get the .250 out soon. The twist is 1-14 and 22" long. Quarter turn take down and not drilled or tapped thank God ( however I do want to get a later EG in .250 with a scope since my eyes are giving me a run with open sights). Oh yeah...the saftey is on the lever and it has a Lyman 1A 3rd variation peep and a Model 15 Windgauge rear barrel sight still on it. Not sure of the front blade but it may be home made. As far as drooling over engraved rifles I recently saw on on a site that listed the 99 as purchased by the owner of the Cripple Creek mines in Colorado and it was case colored reciever with outstanding engraving....all for $45K!! Thanks again for the welcome!

It looks good. That rifle evolved into the 99G, then the 99EG. Savage hit a home run with that design as evidenced by the large number of 1899 250-3000's, 99G's and 99EG's still around. David

Welcome to the forum, I sort of came past your house today. I was in DuBois and came home to Somerset this afternoon by way of St. Boniface and Carroltown. I make that trip on a pretty regular basis.
