If ammo or brass is going to be problematic go with a Creedmore or .260 Rem, respectively. Somehow tho I think the 55 will live on and on and on....

Another rifle well worth consideration is the new Sauer 100. It should be an absolute cracker of a rifle for 700 bucks over there in the US. Available in both the 6.5 Swede and the Creedmoor. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LaL_JAeQTQ8

EuroOptic still has a great deal on the Sako 85 black rifle in he Swede. My best hunting buddy bought this little rifle (finnlight in a matte finish) and it is an absolute hammer! That rifle shoots as good as any custom we have. Literally bug holes.......he bedded it into a gap molded mcbros stock.....what a dang rig! It is the perfect weight and size for a hunting rifle. Likely be his go to rifle. You won't go wrong with tikka or splurge for the 85 black. I think they are 1199 right now. You'll have it in a few days.

Haha, I just realized he's the one that posted about the quote above mine......the tikka will shoot just as well and will cost way less.....same barrels as the expensive flagship rifle...the 85

Can't go wrong with a Swede! Outstanding rig Dan! You ever want to get rid of it you probably wouldn't have to go further than Oswego. (Although I'd probably want something like the VXIII 1 1/2- 5 I've got on my 1B .308 on it.)

And here I went and bought some 6.5 Swede brass from Shooters pro shop. Without a rifle to put them in...

Nope... Ooooo....

Rev. Can't believe a hard core 7x57 dude is drooling over a mere 6.5x55... This one is at McM, being fitted for a classic Mauser McWoody. There is so much variation in Mausers and this one has a custom bolt handle. DF

Actually I was thinking about how nice that would look with a 7x57 barrel screwed on, but I didn't want to hijack the thread. But how that you mention it.... That's going to look nice. The profile on that barrel looks a bit thinner than a .600+ No. 2 contour. Is it? Or is it just the picture?

Forgot to add, the new Mauser stock is gonna be a McWoody Edge classic. I found out lately that you CAN have McWoody + Edge. In the past, Edge was only offered in the painted version, reportedly due to weight.
I should have it by the end of May and will post photos.
The new stock should be 10-12 oz. lighter than the B&C Medalist, which will soon be for sale.

Can't go wrong with a Model 98 Swede
