Anyone using the 7mm 180 Scenars for hunting and how are they performing? Yes, I know they're a target projectile, but want to compare them to 180 hybrids. I plan on using them with a 28 Nosler.

Goodly. 2 mule deer bucks, a black bear, a cow elk, and 2 bull elk so far. Shooting them at 2860fps from a 7rem mag.

Starsky what ranges did you take all the animals? Did it look like the scenar expanded good? Did you get exits? Is yours a 1-9" twist? Im debating on trying them in my mashburn

I can't speak to the 7mm, but have shot elk and deer with the 155 scenars in 308. They performed very well. I also shoot the 105 hybrid in my 243. It also performs very well on deer. The hybrids are a bit softer than scenars, but both open up, and do well on game.

Two buddies killed coues deer this past season. The small spike was a little explosive, but was 310 yards and hit shoulder.
Other buddy killed a mature buck, 342 yards head on. .284 entrance, no exit but buck feel dead at the spot.
I'll be running then against Hybrid's and Hornady ELDX.

I forgot about that thread, thank you for the link 30338. Seems like many have good luck using the scenars, and projectile performs. I'll be using a 1:9 twist at 26" long barrel.I'm going to try 180 hybrids and 180 scenars.

I got them shooting well in a stock Ruger 77 which I think is a 9.25 or 9.5 twist, but that is at 6000 plus altitude. They shoot great in a 8.5 twist too. I keep messing around with the 195 EOL bullet in my 8.5 twist. It'll be that, the 180 scenar, or the 168 Hybrid I have been using.

Im debating on trying them in my mashburn Shortest range was around 340 yards, longest was 700. Don't think I got exits on the elk, almost did on the bear, and had one exit on one the muleys. Yep 9 twist. Really impressed with that bullet. That bear in the link seemed to be impressed too

Yeah, they work ok. Maybe not as good as say a 150 NPT but not bad.
