Nice rifle. Now cut the barrel down to 20" and get back to us. Just sayin...
No need for that.
Steyr Pro, 7Mag
Steyr Mountain Rifle, 308 Win
Steyr Pro, 376 Steyr
Two of the Steyr's above have 20" barrels. The first is a Mountain Rifle in 308 Win. No granted it's not a magnum and is only loaded with 46.5 grains of Varget. However the second is a 376 Steyr and it is loaded with 65 Gr. of H4895.
That would be roughly equivalent of the charge in the 6.5 Leopard.
Here's a pile-o-pigs I shot within 90 minutes(six shots, 4 hoglets, guess I'm slipping. What would Davy say?).
I do not recall the muzzle blast being an issue.
At the range I wear hearing protection. One can always wear dispoable ear-plugs when afield or an electronic amplification device that suppresses noise above a certain decibel level should one choose.
Now if the OP was to do said 6.5 Leopard with a 20 inch barrel and then install a muzzle brake, that would definitely be a "bell ringer" without hearing protection.
Ask me how I know.
Like I mentioned previously, education can be costly.
