Don't know if this has been posted yet but Tikka's website has full specs on the redesigned T3x. Replaceable pistol grip to adjust the angle and a wider slip on forend "Improved grip" - their words New recoil pad Foam insert in the stock to reduce noise Wider ejection port to be easier to feed one round at a time Improved rail attachment to attach a Picatinny rail Last but not least, a metallic bolt shroud - that should get those fence sitters' wallets out! 1 MOA guaranteed with any model. Pretty neat interactive website, too. http://www.tikka.fi/rifles/tikka-t3x#riflesBtw, please spare me your diatribes about how much you hate Tikkas, I don't care. Just offering the information for those that may have been curious about the rumored changes.

Seeing the coolness of the Battue, I'm sure it isn't destined for our shores. I had the same thought about the Left Hand Stainless 6.5x55 with set trigger that they have listed... Also wondering if all of the permutations of the modular stock come with the basic rifle? Or, are they additional cost items?

That sporter looks bad ass and it appears to come in an 8" twist in .223.

The recoil lug is also steel in the T3x.

Is the laminated Sporter a euro-trash only thing?
I've never seen anything like that over here.

The sporter has been around for a while.
You just don't see a lot of them.
Around $1300-1400 street price.

A metal shroud, steel recoil lug and standard 8 twist for .223's would be welcome improvements.

Compare the pictures of the standard T3x Lite and the TAC model. The TAC has the steeper pistol grip and the slip on wide forend. Those are sold separately, you can see them in the Modular Stock feature. Looking forward to seeing these hit store shelves.

I don't have much experience with Tikkas. But a 6.5x55 is on my wishlist.
is the metal bolt shroud really important? or a solution to a non-existent problem?

Is the bolt shroud useable on the previous T3?
So I can buy a factory one in lieu of an aftermarket?

I believe I read that the shroud will fit the older version so I'm thinking some folks might want just the shroud. I have one T3 in 338 federal that I bought a metal shroud for off the tikka shooters web site. Does anyone know if these changes added to the price yet.......I'm thinking it did but have not seen anything yet!

I don't think info is official yet, but the dealers I spoke with were expected about a $50 increase. Which seems about right. No need to get a limbsaver, new lug on magnums, or bolt shroud. That's assuming Tikka does them right.

Never been a Tikka fan, or liked DMs, but they've fixed about 90% of what I didn't like. Nobody's ever accused them of not shooting well. I could go for a stainless/walnut one, I think.
Wonder if you can top-load the new ones?

Question will be- What models will Beretta USA import to the USA? For lefties, it will be minimal as always.
Tikka could have sold way more of the previous models in the USA if they actually had a distributor that listed to the public and imported models that were in demand.

...Wonder if you can top-load the new ones? The magazines can’t be easily recharged from the top unless someone is especially dexterous but the website does say the ejection port has been widened a bit to facilitate single loading.

Will the models that come with the long 5 round magazines like the T3X Varmint, for example, accept the shallower magazine of models like the T3X Compact?

A couple of the Tikka's I would be willing to prepay, and wait, if an importer were willing to do the paper work. Thinking of the AR group buy that K-Var (?) did for the Left Hand Zastavas a couple years ago. Cant help but think that the unique Left Hand Tikka models would sell at least as well as the LH Mausers...

I plan on acquiring a T3X lite stainless lefty in 270 Win, but I would really like to see them make that available in 260 or 6.5x55 for us lefties, too. I've got a 6.5 itch that is gonna require scratching.

Metallic shroud and steel lug? Looks like Tikka is tired of giving a little profit to Mountain Tactical ... To add to Lefty angst, their website says they make the T3 left handed in 9.3 x 62, but try to find one. A while back some Scandinavian airline had crazy winter RT fares to Sweden and Norway. Sub $300 crazy. Honest to goodness I emailed the Sako distributor in Stockholm to see if they had the 9.3 x 62 in LH in either the 595 or T3. Fortunately, they did not.

If they would fix the mag issue(smashed or broken tips and seating bullets deeper) in the heavier recoil carts, they'd have it just about lined out.

I'm a hard core Tikka fan but for several reasons the new T3X doesn't get me all giddy. For one I see no issue with the size of the ejection port on the standard T3. For me it functioned great. I have to wonder if the larger port of the new T3X doesn't compromise the regidity of the action to some degree possibly effecting accuracy. Time will tell. In a few years I can see adds that say, looking for an original highly sought after T3 action for a build. 😃
Metal bolt shrouds and recoil lugs I have no real use for other than to make my rifle heavier. I've never had an issue with the parts that keep my rifle lite to include the plastic magazine rather than a steel one. In fact one major reason my Tikkas go to the mountains with me rather than my Sako is because the plastic parts the Tikka has make it noticeably lighter.

Was just perusing your website and whoooeee, you definitely have good prices on those. The prices for new LH T3x rifles are well over $100 lower than other on-line prices for the older LH T3, and I see you've reduced prices on all the remaining T3's of both kinds. Good selection of the various kinds and chamberings, old and new as well. https://shop.whittakerguns.com/store/firearms/rifles/n-z/tikka?p=1&pageSize=96Do you carry any of the replaceable pistol grips or forends yet?

My T3x 30-06 came in a few days ago. Overall it's nice, but required a few tweaks. I did not intend on purchasing an aftermarket stock and wanted to make use of the factory stock. Unfortunately, the barrel channel had a huge gap on one side and the recoil lug seemed to sit way to deep in the stock to make full contact. Also, the bolt stop pin will just about fall out under gravity on it's own.
I was able to fix the barrel channel gap by wrapping the barrel towards the forend tip with some tape to center it. I then tightened everything back up and hit the stock with a heat gun. I heated it up and let it cool a couple times and now it is just about perfectly centered. Once it was centered, I did a little sanding to free float it all the way back to the action.
For the recoil lug, I hit it with some penetrating oil and used some pliers to pull it out. After some measuring, it looks like there's about a .032 gap between the top of the lug and the bottom of the action. This leaves not a lot of contact between the two. I cut a shim out of an old credit card that measures .030 and used that to shim the recoil lug up in the stock.
The bolt stop pin isn't too big of a deal as it's captured by the stock, but you have to watch it so that spring doesn't go flying when you remove the barreled action. I am interested in any thoughts around this though.
Hopefully this helps someone.
Matt

Did your T3x come with scope rings? I finally got a chance to see one in person today and like the different grip texture but the salesman says they no longer come with rings, you have to buy them separately.

I have oversize stainless bolt stop springs available that prevent spring loss. Tried doing oversized pins as well, but there was enough variance across the board that snug in one was impossibly tight in another. But, I do have stainless pins available the same size as OEM. Saves paying $65 for the whole kit if you lose a spring or pin.

I handled the new T3x yesterday. The sissy pad wasn't nearly as nice as a Limbsaver. Sportsmans has them at $750, which is $100 more than the Superlite.
So I bought 2 Superlites.

I bought a .30-06 and a .308. They had a .223 and .22-250. And yes, Sportsmans cut the price to $650 on the Superlites to make room for the T3x. Be quick if you want one, they're going fast. P
