Having had Lilja, Shilen, Kidd, Feddersen, and now the Green Mountain 17.5'', I think I would have to give the nod to the GM on accuracy. Finally got this build completed and took it to the range today for accuracy testing. This set up is like a laser with SK match. :bthumb: :bthumb: :bthumb: Ruger receiver with JWH custom bolt, Kidd trigger, Zeiss scope, GM barrel, custom cherry stock.

I've been happy with the GM barrel we put on a 10/22 also. This one is 16.5" fluted. Some 10-shot groups at 60 yards, with bulk Remington golden bullet. Shane

My favorite 10/22 has a 24" fluted stainless sporter contour barrel from GM. It is both accurate and well balanced, but no longer quite as handy as the standard carbines.

If I want to shoot the best groups, I shoot Eley Edge and RWS Rifle Match. RWS Rifle Match is the ammo that I prefer to use to test .22 rifles and my shooting skills.

The guys at my club really like the GM barrels for their accuracy. But I'd think they would get tired of the "shoot to clear", because they can't extract a live round... WTF is up with that chit??? I'll keep using my factory target barrel...
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

I've not tried to eject a live round out of my GM barrel. I'll have to give it a try next time. I've been shooting Norma TAC 22 with pleasing results. Will have to give some of that other stuff a spin around the block in the near future. I also had a GM barrel on my M77/17 HMR back when I had one. It too shot very well.

My GM has never had any issues with extracting/ejecting live rounds.
But, the barrel is marked:...."WARNING: UNFIRED ROUNDS MAY NOT ALWAYS EJECT"

I was given a brick of the Norma and have shot about half of it. It is better than average but in every rifle I have tried it pales compared to Wolf Match or Wolf Match extra. It is not as accurate as Lapua Midas or several others I have tried. Just bought about 5 boxes of match ammo in various flavors to try out. Some stuff shoots great at 50 but not the best at 100.

one thing that keeps me from trying anything that will group even better is the fact i'll get addicted to the stuff and wont be satisfied with anything less than great!

I have a GM barrel on my 10/22. Shoots the same as Montana Marine's.

I've built a lot of 10/22s for out family and was using GM barrels and then it seemed like they were very hard to find.
Later I was using Elysium barrels and very very happy with them.
I heard a while ago that there was some tie in between GM and Elysium but don't know the details.
Anyone with info ?

MontanaMarine, That's a pretty impressive group using Remington GB. I'm just happy to have ten consecutive rounds actually fire.
